GPUs for image processing applications and beyond have potential
computer speeds that are 3 to 30 times faster as the latest CPUs.
Completely preconfigured systems are available from ELTEC with digital
interfaces or framegrabbers and matching GPU – all designed for
industry-adequate cooling. ELTEC utilizes models of the Fermi-based
GeForce cards from Nvidia. The system contains one GTS 450 with a GF106
chip, 192 processor elements as well as 57 GB/s of memory bandwidth.
The programming of the GPUs takes place in CUDA. ELTEC offers its system customers a work sharing option by delivering a program framework that is provided in the form of a source code. The framework allows every user to set up his or her own algorithms. Consequently, the core know-how remains in-house while the roll-out of GPU programming is made considerably easier. ELTEC can also handle the pivotal optimization of processing times. For image processing applications, this means that ELTEC is your partner for everything from the programming of the entire work flow from image recording to the transfer of the GPU data to the CPU.
The CUDA programming step, which with the exception of a few initializations and of course also the parallel-running loop designs, is very similar to the programming in C, is something many users can handle and very likely do want to do themselves. However, upon request, ELTEC will offer complete implementations of existing algorithms. Programming support in OpenCL, which offers even better universal compatibility when compared to CUDA, is in the works. Once it is available, it will also be possible to use the AMD GPUs and those integrated into the 2000-series Intel CPUs.
A system comprises the hardware, the operating system and the basic software. ELTEC customers also receive engineering-team support. Thanks to our customer-oriented approach, all possibilities are open to you when it comes to the rest of the system set-up: We have the capability to handle everything from unique housing form factors to special cooling requirements for extraordinary heat conditions to Linux and Windows system programming.
